Can I make a request?
We don't play requests or dedications. More than 500,000 people listen each week, and we only have room for about 12 songs each hour.
Here's how you CAN give us your feedback: you can rate the music we play at our Last Songs Played page. Just click the "rate it" button to the right of each song.
I listen a lot and hear the same songs over and over.
A few songs at a time ... several times per day ... that's how most people listen to the radio.
So, we make sure there's always a great song on 97.1 The River when you turn us on. If you listen for hours and hours at a time, day after day, you may hear some of the same songs more often than you'd like.
I hear you play a couple of songs by my favorite artist; why don't you play more? Can you play some other cuts off the CDs you play?
A great song will be playing on our station whenever you turn us on ... that's our committment to you. We do a number of things to make sure that happens. No group's or artist's songs are all equally good, so we choose the cream of the crop to play on 97.1 The River.
How can you play 52 minutes of music in a row when I hear commercials more often than that?
"52 minutes commercial free every hour" ... that's what you hear us say.
Simple formula: 8 minutes of commercials each hour = 52 minutes of music every hour.
We break those 8 minutes of commercials into shorter breaks to make them easier to listen to. You'll still hear 52 minutes of music every hour!
And ... by the way ... we play FEWER commercials every hour than any other Atlanta-area radio station. No brag ... it's a fact.
Why do you still call yourself "New"?
People email and call us regularly to tell us they've just JUST found us for the first time. However, if you've been with us for a while, thanks for hanging with us!
We hope that you find a lot fewer commercials every hour a good trade-off for us still calling ourselves "New."
Why can't I pick up prizes on the weekend or on holidays?
Our office staff works weekdays from 8:30 to 5:30. When you win a prize from us, we want to make sure you get it. So we ask to see your ID, or even ask you to sign some paperwork, to prove you are who you say you are. If you need to make special arrangements to pick up a prize, please let us know with plenty of notice.

Can you announce my group's special event? Can you come out and play music at it?
If you have a special fundraiser or other charity event, let us know at our River Cares page. We commit a certain amount of time each week to public service announcements and public affairs programming.
Sometimes, we can make special appearances at fundraisers and charity events, but we're very limited on the amount of time we can do so.
I just recorded my own CD; how can I get my song played on your radio station?
Have a big hit now, and then wait 25 years. We're Atlanta's Classic Hits station.
How come I can hear you in South Carolina, but have trouble getting you at the Atlanta airport?
Our transmitter is in Buford, Georgia, and we broadcast with a maximum 100,000 watts of power.
Like many Atlanta radio stations, we're "licensed" by the government to serve one of the surrounding towns. In our case, its Gainesville, Georgia. That means that while we want as good a signal as possible to serve the whole Atlanta area we MUST have a good signal in Gainesville.
So there's some spots on the south side of town where reception is spotty. Unfortunately, the signal is as strong as it gets, and if youre in most of north Georgia, 97.1 The River comes in just fine where you are.
Why not try listening online? You can listen to the 97.1 The River stream anywhere in the world!
Does Elton John own your radio station?
No, and we know you're asking because you hear several of his songs on our station ... if you're hearing too much of something or not enough of something else, start rating the music song by song to give us your feedback!
